A Voice for You, With Experience that Delivers!
Pamela Janifer is a native Washingtonian, and attended schools in the District of Columbia Public School System before moving to Prince George’s County. She went on to attend Bowie State University and Towson University before moving to the City of District Heights, where she celebrates 22 years as a resident of the City of District Heights.
Pamela is also a proud mother, daughter and fiancé of U.S. service members and veterans.
Pamela is recently retired from the federal government after almost 40 years of public service in various capacities at the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the U.S. Department of Labor. Her final stint was with the Environmental Protection Agency where as a Congressional Liaison, her primary responsibilities were to provide technical advice and expertise related to environmental protections to Members of Congress and their staff. This experience gave her an opportunity to interact with business owners, community members, advocacy groups, nonprofit organizations, elected officials, and local governments. Her collective professional experience has provided her with skill sets necessary in managing major programs and efforts, effectively working with others for a common goal, and building successful coalitions—attributes that will make her a successful leader and a uniquely qualified Commissioner.
Pamela has been engaged in a number of community service and volunteerism activities. She’s a former member of the District Heights Youth Empowerment Program and has a deep passion for the arts having supported a number of performances of the City of District Heights Theater. Pamela’s love for the youth in her community has extended to the “District Heights Queens” event, and she has contributed to several Queens Tea activities. These and other acts of tireless dedication demonstrates her commitment to the city she lives in and is proud to serve.
From 2018-2019, Pamela had the honor of serving as Commissioner in Ward 2, completing the remaining Commissioner term of former Mayor Martin. During that short period, she moved the agenda in supporting programs for the youth as well as forged ahead on many initiatives related to seniors and the overall administration of the City, particularly with regard to the budget.
Pamela is grateful for the opportunity to serve the residents of the City of District Heights and will continue to lift the voices of the residents in addressing concerns. She has a vision for our future “to move the people’s agenda”, and plans to continue the work started in her initial call to service as Commissioner to include actively listening to the concerns of residents, and collaborating with the Mayor and Commission in addressing the common needs of the community.
“Listening to your concerns and being transparent about the management of our City is the only way to win your trust and grow together. There is no “I” in this equation. This is OUR CITY and WE can do this TOGETHER.” - Pamela Janifer
Pamela is committed to the City of District Heights and her pledge is to be an advocate for the issues and concerns of ALL RESIDENTS. We have two Wards, but we are ONE DISTRICT HEIGHTS.
As Commissioner, Pamela will leverage her broad experience as a public servant, volunteer, and community advocate to serve as a dependable resource and dedicated activist for you.
On MONDAY, JULY 11th, I ask that you vote PAMELA JANIFER for Commissioner, Ward 2.
